Why is Spain one of the favourite destination wedding locations for couples from all over the world? We look at the five top reasons why you should have a destination wedding in Spain.

Destination wedding location

Hundreds of couples contract their legal marriage in their own country then travel from the United Kingdom and Ireland every year to celebrate their wedding in Spain.

What is more surprising is that Spain also sees couples coming from as far away as Australia, the United States of America and Canada for their destination wedding ceremony. Why?!

A unique combination of ease of access to the Spanish international airports, affordable flights, almost guaranteed sunshine (in southern Spain), great food, wonderful people and economically priced wedding suppliers tick the boxes on the majority of destination wedding couples wish list.

Spain’s wedding venues

Spain has an incredible selection of wedding venues providing something for every taste and every budget.

From Moorish castles and historic palaces, to private villas and luxury modern hotels, Spain has incredible architecture and some of Europe’s most romantic buildings.

From sparkling Mediterranean sea views to mountainous olive groves for as far as the eye can see, Spain can accommodate sunshine beach weddings, snow-capped sierra weddings and rustic boho cortijo weddings to fulfil the dreams of all brides and grooms.

Spanish sunshine weddings

Now Spain is a vast country and the weather in the north of Spain can be very different to the climate in the southern Andalucia for example.

The Costa de La Luz has different weather influences to the beaches of the Costa Blanca and the temperatures in inland Spain can reach record breaking levels in the height of summer.

But there is little doubt that the weather in Spain is another of the great attractions for wedding couples from overseas.

The Mediterranean wedding diet

The gastronomy of Spain is renowned worldwide. The premier supplier of extra virgin olive oil in the world, Spain produces many other quality fruits and vegetables too – tomatoes, oranges, avocadoes, mangoes and “chirimoya” or custard apples to name but a few.

Wine is very important to the Spanish and they are justifiably proud of their locally produced vintages, sherries and cava – an eminently acceptable alternative to champagne.

Creative wedding entrees, vast banquets, sumptuous buffets, skilfully carved wafer-thin slices of jamon or locally caught fish barbequed over an open fire are all offered by Spanish caterers with care and flair.

Spanish wedding fashion and photography

As a nation, the Spanish are very conscious of appearance and will go to great lengths to dress up at a wedding – consequently the Spanish wedding dress industry is thriving.

It is recommended to opt for a local wedding photographer for your destination wedding in Spain as not only do they know the best local places to take your perfect images, but they are accustomed to the amazing light that we enjoy and can make the most of “the golden hour” at sunset for example to capture that special romantic photo you have always dreamed of.

We don’t just offer a wedding industry here in Spain, we offer a wedding community of suppliers who really care about making your dream destination wedding a reality.
