The company will start a new period of negotiation with the unions

The travel agency network Viajes El Corte Inglés has informed the trade unions of its intention to suspend its current ERTE for productive reasons in order to begin a new period of negotiation and apply a new file with a higher percentage of effects than the current one.

Last April, the company reached an agreement with the Professional Travel Union (SPV) that will last until March 2021, guaranteeing jobs and ensuring 82% of the employees' fixed salary.

As SPV explains, "we are all aware of the current situation of our company and of our sector in general, which motivates us to face this situation with the utmost caution. SPV's objective will always be to guarantee each and every one of our jobs".

For the trade union organisation, "this epidemic, and its dire economic consequences, are lasting longer than expected and its tremendous impact on companies and the labour market is exceeding the most negative forecasts, and what is worse, no one can venture to put an end to it".

The premises in the negotiation by the unions: guarantee of employment to retain each and every job; social measures to mitigate the impact of the reductions; and the implementation of a powerful training plan to improve the skills and employability of workers and prepare us to lead the recovery in the sector.

At the beginning of the summer, Viajes El Corte Inglés began a gradual reopening of its travel agencies.
