Madrid to host 8th edition of Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference & Exhibition

Madrid’s Melia Castilla Hotel will be hosting the event from 19-21 of October 2016.

For the last 50 years, the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency combating global hunger. Every year, the WFP provides 80 million people from 80 countries worldwide with food aid. When the areas involved are inaccessible by road, train or river, airlifting aid is the only option. Through the UN’s Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), the WFP’s aviation provides the whole humanitarian community with air transport services, allowing them to reach remote areas that are inaccessible to commercial airlines and others modes of transport.
.
One of the main roles of the WFP’s air service is to boost the capacity of civil aviation authorities and other national institutions, strengthen relations between air operators and, in general, improve co-operation in the humanitarian aviation sector. In this context, the 8th edition of Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference & Exhibition (GHAC) has been organized to provide a forum for WFP air service providers and other members of the sector. Since its advent in 2009, the GHAC has become a benchmark event in the humanitarian aviation industry. The event congregates a select group of innovators, leaders and top management in the industry to discuss a wide range of urgent concerns related to air safety and emerging trends. The previous editions of GHAC were held in the UAE, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, and Switzerland. Thanks to this annual event, headway has been made in the implementation of new initiatives related to safety, innovating partnerships, and greater efficiency in humanitarian air operations through a greater level of collaboration.
