The award-winning Christie® Boxer 4K30 continues to shine at major European events. On this occasion, two of these 30,000 lumen, 4K resolution, 3DLP® projectors left their mark on ibtm world, the world’s most important MICE show, which was recently held in Barcelona and attended by 15,000 trade professionals.

This was thanks to the A/V service providers Eikonos, who handled the installation of video, sound, and lighting equipment for the welcome reception held on the show floor at Gran Via Fira, Barcelona. This year, the reception’s theme was “Deliciously Barcelona, thus celebrating Catalonia’s election as European Region of Gastronomy 2016.

The reception, revolving around food, music, culture, wine, and networking, was attended by hundreds of people. On a white plaster frieze above the guests, Eikonos carried out two spectacular 16x5m projections that stole the spotlight.

On these improvised screens, Eikonos projected animated posters and institutional videos, which stood out for their outstanding image sharpness and quality. To this end, two Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors were installed on an interior balcony 6m above the floor and 23m from the plaster frieze. To manage projections, Eikonos used a Christie Spyder X20 video processor, with a resolution of 1920x600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:5. The firm’s technicians also used keystone correction adjustments to correct image distortion.

Ricard Galindo, sales manager at Eikonos, explained why the Boxers were used for this event: “Due to the size and location of screen, we needed very powerful projectors, since 12,000 of the 30,000 lumens of Boxers were lost because of the content format. Despite the venue’s light pollution and the surface used for projections, the performance of the equipment was optimal.”
