Last May, Ultramar Event Management, TUI Spain's MICE division, hosted an incentive trip in Andalusia for a group of over 900 German travel agents, accompanied by a large delegation of TUI's sales, marketing and booking staff.

“TUI Portugal also participated in the incentive trip, which goes to show once more the international co-ordination capacity of the companies making up TUI Travel PLC,” explained Santos Ramon, director of Ultramar’s Seville office.

These travel agents took part in an initiative promoted by TUI Deutschland, consisting of a competition-type programme designed to test the knowledge of Andalusia of 11,000 travel agents from all over Germany. One thousand five hundred agents made it to the semi-finals and participated in an educational programme on Andalusia, conducted in their respective regions in Germany.

The prize for the winners – more than 900 travel agents and the chief German tourism media – was an incentive trip to Andalusia, organized by the Regional Government’s tourism department, the Tourist Board of Huelva, PRODETUR Sevilla, and the Tourist Consortium of Seville.

Groups of 200 people made the trip, allowing them to get to know Andalusia’s historical-cultural heritage, its rich variety of landscapes, and its tourist facilities and services, above all in the provinces of Huelva and Seville.

“This type of initiative allows German travel agents not only to inform their clients about the beauty of Andalusia and the holiday opportunities it affords, but also about the region’s magic and its inhabitants’ way of life,” said Monica Salas, head of international accounts at Ultramar Event Management.
