The Latin-American Advertising Communication Festival has awarded its “Sol de Oro” in “Young Creators” category to Guillermo Sanchez Barreiro from Cadiz and Mayra Martinez Pinto from Madrid. Sanchez and Martinez, who are both studying a master programme at the well-known Miami Ad School in Madrid, won the award for an ad campaign proposed by the event’s organisers, an imaginary commission from a soft drink manufacturer about the rational use of water.

Previously known as the Latin- American Advertising Festival, the event organised by the Spanish Association of Advertising Agencies (AEAP) has become the most prestigious forum for the Spanish advertising industry since being held for the first time in 1986. This year’s edition was held in San Sebastian from 29-31 May 2008.

Originally a television festival, “El Sol” is now a multimedia event that over the years has incorporated different award categories: TV/films, graphic design (newspapers and magazines), radio, interactive media, mass media, direct marketing, promotional marketing, integrated campaigns, PR and young creators.
