The most modern conference hall in the Nordic and Baltic countries, capable of accommodating large international conferences, with up to 1,830 delegates, will be opened in the heart of Tallinn, the Estonian capital, this Saturday, 10 October.

The Nokia Concert Hall, as this event venue is to be known, will be opened in Tallinn’s new entertainment and lifestyle centre Solaris and will not only be used for conferences but also for high-profile concerts and theatre performances. The first conference bookings, as well as the first international red carpet events for this new facility have already been made, including the European Film Academy Awards, the European film industry’s star event, for instance, which Solaris will be hosting in 2010.

“The conference centre is truly a state-of-the-art facility, with a unique concept unprecedented in Estonia or anywhere in the Baltic, for that matter,” said Rebane, chairman of the Management Board of Solaris. “The latest in sound, lighting and video systems makes the multi-functional conference centre the best equipped venue in the region, enabling Tallinn to host large international conferences.”

The centre offers a wide range of possibilities for staging top conferences, providing video and sound systems through local video monitoring, a 20x10m screen, and up to six booths for interpreters. There are also 12 function rooms – three in classroom format (65-255m2) and nine in theatre format (62-510 seats each – providing extra space or breakout facilities.

The facilities also have a 3,300m2 lobby area suitable for catering services and bar facilities, a stylish, 250m2 VIP lounge and an extra 600m2 of exhibition space next to the main entrance. The conference facilities have also been designed for people with mobility problems, having an elevator, toilets on each floor, and specially adapted seats.

The launching and marketing of the conference centre has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, in collaboration with the tourism marketing support program of Enterprise Estonia, whose mission is to showcase the country as a travel destination in international target markets.
