Spanish Hotel Prices are Lower then the European Average

According to the results of a study conducted by Hotels.com on the hotel price index for the last quarter of 2006, Spanish hotel prices were generally speaking 8% lower than the European average, with Marbella, Barcelona, Madrid and Playa de las Americas registering the highest prices in Spain.

Marbella
With an average price of 134 euros per night, Marbella is the most expensive locality in Spain, followed by Barcelona (126 euros), Madrid (116 euros) and Playa de las Americas (113 euros). At the other end of the scale, Bilbao registered the lowest average price (79 euros), followed closely by Granada and Maspalomas (81 euros).

Interannual increases
The biggest increase in hotel prices was registered in Palma de Mallorca, where the average price rose by 32%, followed by Granada and Seville, with a 29 and 24% increase, respectively, whereas the average increase during the last quarter of 2006 in relation to the same period of the year before was 23%.
