Spain GTF – Global Tourism Forum is an event keyed to generating debate revolving around issues of an economic and global nature that have an influence on the capacity for developing tourism in the current environment, through an analysis of industry perspectives and the impact of toruism on the global economy and society as a whole.

Scheduled to be held on 27 January 2015 in Madrid, the event aims to gather the international economic environment’s most influential voices in order to perform an analysis so as to determine the impact of tourism on the economy and vice versa, as well as to define the challenges both will be facing in the future. To this end, Spain GTF will be attended by personalities representing national and international organisations, as well as the CEOs of recognised global and nationwide companies.

The official opening of Spain GTF, in which top representatives of Spanish institutions will take part, is scheduled for 12am and will serve to introduce the programme of discussions planned for the forum.

Along these lines, the first discussion panel will deal with "The impact of tourism on the development of a country’s infrastructures", where several Spanish and international tourism industry experts will discuss the direct impact of an increase in tourist activity on a country’s infrastructure development.

After lunch, it will be the turn of "Economy and tourism competitiveness", a discussion panel dedicated to the importance of developing a competitive economy and tourism industry so as to benefit the destination in question. The panel will feature experts from the academic world, as well as senior executives from different companies and organisations.

The permanent evolution of this environment, along with the difficulties the tourism industry is currently experiencing in its efforts to adapt, is a burning issue that will be discussed at Spain GTF by the presidents and CEOs of some of the industry’s most relevant businesses in a session addressing "Demographic, economic, social change: how should the tourism industry deal with it?" Furthermore, the introduction of new technologies in tourism, one of the industry’s most relevant issues, will also be discussed at length during the session "The role of new technologies and innovation in tourism management", where experts will exchange knowledge and experiences relating to this issue.
