According to Miriam Díaz, Santander’s head of culture and tourism, the city’s MICE offerings will be showcased at one of Spain’s main meeting and event shows, scheduled to be held in Madrid on 28 June.
Promoted by AEVEA (Associated Spanish Event Agencies) under the slogan, ‘An industry of value and with values’, the event will attract agencies and PCOs from all over the country.
Santander will make the most of this opportunity to showcase its MICE offerings and establish contacts with industry professionals with an eye to hosting future events.
Among the city’s many strengths, it is important to mention its cultural and entertainment agenda, exquisite cuisine, facilities such as its exhibition and sports centres, Magdalena Palace, hotels, restaurants and shops, all factors that make it an ideal business tourism destination.
During the first five months of the year, Santander has hosted 84 events, with a total of 15,690 delegates who generated 47,735 overnights stays.
In 2016, the number of events hosted by the city increased by 5%, representing an economic impact of 28.3€ million.
