The Reality of Gay Tourism, a conference organised by Euroaula School of Tourism

The Euroaula School of Tourism (operating under the aegis of the University of Girona) has organised the first two seminars on gay tourism to be held in a Barcelona school of tourism. The second seminar will be held at the school’s assembly hall, located in c/ Aragó, Barcelona, on 17 January 2008 from 9.30am-8pm.

At the first seminar, Mr Jordi Petit, honorific president of the Gay-Lesbian Association of Catalonia (CGL), spoke about gay toruism from a sociological standpoint, describing his point of view and relating many aspects of the phenomenum to his lastest book Vidas del Arco Iris.

Mr Carlos de Cires will be the second seminar’s keynote speaker, broaching the subject of gay tourism from a business point of view, bearing in mind that it is priority market niche for companies in the tourist industry.

About Carlos de Cires
Carlos de Cires is a LGTB tourism consultant participating in different tourism initiatives for lesbians, gays, transexuales and bisexuals. He has collaborated with specialised travel agents and is currently the Head of Tourism and Accommodation for the Barcelona Eurogames 08, as well as trip co-ordinator for the Turismo Destino ZERO, a suplement published biannually in June and December by the magazine ZERO. Likewise, he has collaborated with different media as a LGTB consultant and given conferences and talks on the subject in different fora. He is also working closely with SITC (International Tourism Trade Show of Catalonia), among other agencies and associations, with the aim of including an area with gay-friendly products in the 2008 edition of the show.
