Travelife is a training, management and certification initiative for tourism companies committed to reach sustainability.

The Princesa Yaiza Hotel has just obtained Travelife’s Silver Award, an international certification system that helps hotels and accommodation to manage and improve their environmental and social performance so as achieve sustainability in tourism.

The certification process includes a third-party audit analyzing efficient consumption, waste management and impact on local communities. So as to obtain Travelife’s certification it is necessary to demonstrate good practices, such as the limited use of chemical products, as well as waste and environmental impact minimization, among other aspects. Along these lines, it is important to mention that during 2012 the Princesa Yaiza, a 5-star resort located in Lanzarote, remodelled its facilities so as to improve the property’s efficient consumption of energy and water.

This certification is, therefore, a guarantee for guests keen on minimizing the environmental impact of their holiday. In addition, the certified property becomes fully committed to environmental protection, since the third-party audit is repeated every two years prior to the renewal of the Travelife certificate.
