The Spanish foundation La Paz es Posible (Peace is Possible) collaborated in the promotion of the event and customer service through its Las Palmas delegation.

The internationally acclaimed Peace Ambassador Prem Rawat delivered an address before a full house at the Canaries Congress Centre on 18 March. Judging by the silence in the venue, the audience was enthralled while Rawat put forward spontaneously, without using notes, his perspective of peace as a basic need and a right of all human beings, with the help of amusing examples that were much applauded by the audience.

For the last 40 years or more, Rawat has travelled all around the world speaking to audiences both in major capitals and in remote rural areas. "My work," he says, "is about reaching out to people so as to show them the possibilities of finding inner peace. I hope that, by finding that peace, their lives will be more complete and balanced, and that they can find that inner satisfaction so many people yearn after."

In 2011, Prem Rawat addressed over 500,000 people at 147 events. During his career, he has spoken in forums as important as the European Parliament and the United Nations in New York, as well as at numerous universities including Oxford, Harvard and Salamanca.

Both his activity in favour of peace and the humanitarian projects that he promotes through the Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) have been highly valued by social and governmental organizations worldwide.

As a part of his 2012 international tour, before travelling to Las Palmas, he spoke at the Auditorio Forum in Barcelona on 10 and 11 March, before a full house on both days.

His keynote speeches, included in the TV series "Words of Peace," are broadcasted by 450 channels on six continents and available via Internet. In the Canary Islands, the programme is broadcast daily by 4 TV Telde (Gran Canaria) and weekly by Mirame TV (Tenerife).

Admission to the event was free and only by invitation due to the venue’s limited capacity. The events are organized by the Holland-based Words of Peace Global Foundation, which finances its activities through donations from over 80 countries and the sale of materials and publications.

Comments:
This was really a conference that was worthwhile. It made a deep impact on me and, at the same time, I had a good laugh. I hope that I’ll get a chance to see him again in the Canary islands. (Laura Perez Velasco, 2 April 2012)
