Thanks to a new smart mobile application, the iPhone can now be used as a autonomous surveillance and personal alarm system.

iPhone users now have the solution to their personal safety at the tip of their fingers at any time and in any place. A smart phone application called “KamAlert” turns the iPhone into a mobile telephone equipped with a completely autonomous surveillance camera. It includes an alarm system that sends photos and SMSs when the user has problems or is in danger.

The application has two main features:

  1. A surveillance mode that detects movement and takes photos of intruders.
  2. Two help buttons that can be used in health emergencies, or if the user is in danger, to alert the police, family and friends.

Surveillance mode
KamAlert is the only application that converts the iPhone into a surveillance system equipped with a camera. When activated, the telephone will detect any continuous movement or change of light, immediately taking photos of the intruder(s). Once taken, the application automatically sends the photos, along with an SMS, to pre-programmed contacts. It can be used to keep a property, office or even a hotel room under surveillance.

Help button
The application’s second feature comprises two help buttons. These can be quickly pressed to request assistance in the case of a medical emergency, or if the user is in danger of being attacked or assaulted. KamAlert affords people in bad health, or who are usually on their own, peace of mind.

The founding partners of KamAlert, who have worked in the security industry, have identified a niche in the mobile market for a cheap, user-friendly application geared to personal safety. Along these lines, Randolph von Gans, the inventor of KamAlert, explains: “There are excellent security products on the market, but they have been designed as fixed items for a specific property or business, and are limited to an alarm that sounds when the user is in danger. With the development of smart phones, we saw the opportunity to manufacture a cheap, user-friendly product, which is both flexible and tailored to each user’s needs. KamAlert can be used in different ways so as to adapt it to specific user requirements. For instance, it affords excellent protection in secluded areas, when at home on one’s own, or on holiday.”

“The iPhone is an excellent platform for this security application, which has been designed to be both intuitive and easy to use, even in the most difficult situations. This personal safety system is now available to all iPhone users for under €40 at iPhone applications sales points.”
