Microsoft has announced that it will be launching its video hyperlink technology two years ahead of schedule. This coming spring, Microsoft adCenter Labs, whose task it is to think up new ideas for the company’s adCenter platform, will bring the first video hyperlink ad pilot to MSN.

The pilot ad, which will be launched in collaboration with a national retailer, will feature a video segment with embedded hyperlinks for featured products. On clicking on the products, clients will be taken to a page on the retailer’s site, where they can make their purchase.

Technologies being developed by Microsoft adCenter Labs
Microsoft adCenter Labs’ seven chief lines of research cover keyword and content technologies, ad selection and relevance, audience intelligence, social networking, video, platforms, and devices. Among other technologies currently being developed, researchers and engineers are working on improving content classification, which will help to increase the probability that ads displayed on web search result pages are relevant to consumers.
