Representatives of Malaga’s Trade Show and Congress Centre (FYCMA) showcased the venue before 300 trade professionals at the national meeting of OPC Spain, which was held at the Riojaforum Congress Centre in Logroño from 13-16 February 2008.

In 2010, FYCMA will have the opportunity to demonstrate its worth as a meetings and congress venue during the 13th National Meeting of OPC Spain, which will be attended by key players in the Spanish meetings and event industry. The meeting’s participants will also have the chance to get to know Malaga’s complementary services and products, thus showcasing the city’s capacity as a congress destination.

During the meeting in Logroño, the representatives of Malaga’s congress centre attended different keynote speeches, roundtables and workshops, in which the new trends in the organisation of congresses, conventions and products launches, and the present state of the industry, were discussed.

With the aim of understanding the mechanisms for transmitting messages in an efficient, clear and profitable way, congress marketing and communication constituted one of the main points of discussion at the meeting, which also analysed wine tourism as a complementary activity for congresses delegates.

“The Congress Industry: new rules of the game”, presented by Oscar Cerezales, director general of the MCI Group in Spain, on 15 February, was one of the most relevant keynote speeches, addressing the industry’s key aspects and future. Mr Cerezales underlined “the enormous potential of a city like Malaga in the industry, both on a national and international level.”

The meeting also included the OPC Spain National Awards 2007, whose aim is to pay tribute to the most relevant agencies, companies and people in the industry.
