Malaga's Tradeshow and Congress Centre (FYCMA) has recently been awarded the UNE-EN ISO 14001 Standard by the Spanish Association for Normalization and Certification (AENOR). This represents yet another demonstration of the centre’s environmental commitment, guaranteeing the compliance with existing laws, the optimization and minimization of environmental risks, and a sustainable management of natural resources.

AENOR has recently awarded FYCMA the Environmental Management Certificate, as established by the UNE-EN ISO 14001 Standard – bringing the number of certificates awarded to the centre to six – in recognition of the quality of the centre’s services and its efforts for constant improvement.

Since being opened, FYCMA has demonstrated its environmental commitment by controlling the impact of its activities and services on the environment, as established by the centre’s policy and objectives.

This standard confers additional prestige on the centre with respect to its clients and society in general, since it acknowledges the efforts made by FYCMA to integrate environmental management into the centre’s global management.

Before awarding the standard, AENOR has carried out an audit in which it has valued the identification and evaluation of environmental aspects, as well as initiatives keyed to achieving established environmental objectives.

According to Yolanda de Aguilar, director general of FYCMA, who attended the presentation of Malaga’s new congress guide on 6 May: “Quality standards are essential for attracting international congresses.”
