The Lisbon Congress Centre and the New Congress Centre of Seville (FIBES), both associate members of the ICCA Iberian Chapter, have been chosen to host the ICCA European Workshop in 2013 and 2014, respectively, all of which goes to show the interest of the international congress industry in the Spain and Portugal as destinations.
This year’s edition of the ICCA European Workshop has just taken place at the Lisbon Congress Centre from 5-6 September.
During the two-day event, 13 representatives of European congress centres belonging to ICCA and a similar number of decision-making clients from major international conferences have met at the Portuguese capital’s congress centre to exchange information on the possibility of holding future major congresses at the associate member centres taking part in the workshop.
Alexandra Torégão of the Lisbon Congress Centre, the event’s hostess and president of the ICCA Iberian Chapter, has stressed the positive results of the workshop, both due to the interest shown in the one-to-one meetings between suppliers and clients and because of the participants’ high level of satisfaction with the meetings and Lisbon and its attractions, which they found time to enjoy thanks to a short but intense social programme.
In September 2014, the ICCA European Workshop will be held in the Andalusian capital, after the New Congress Centre of Seville (FIBES) won the bid to host it. Therefore, two of the associate member centres of the ICCA Iberian Chapter will host this important event two years running.
