Due to the boom in wine tourism, there is a growing need for qualified professionals. For this reason, the University of La Rioja is offering a postgraduate course in wine tourism for the second year running, which will be open to all those wishing to specialise in this field.
Lasting from November 2008-April 2009, the programme will be open to graduates in tourism and other degree holders, and will be given by university professors and prestigious experts. According to the university, there has been a significant increase in foreign students registering for the course this year.
Course methodology will centre on lectures, combining theory and practice, with visits to companies and organisations in different areas of Spain. Modules will include Geography of Wine, Viticulture and Oenology, and Wine Companies and Markets, among others.
During the course, the Foundation of the University of La Rioja will offer those students without employment during the course work placements in companies and institutions related to the programme’s subject matter.
