The members of the high-profile cycling team BMC lent their advice to a group of talented young golf professionals participating in the Rookies Orientation Days, a pioneering experience in the framework of the Ladies European Tour (LET).
For several days, La Sella Golf became a meeting and advisory point for the sports elite, high-profile professional cyclists together with the talented young golf professionals, who took part in the Rookies Orientation Days, successfully held at this renowned golf course in the Alicante region for the first time as a part of the LET experience.
Apart from the full information that the LET’s directors offer young players with the aim of making their debut on the tour as smooth as possible –a special mention going to the talk given by the Spanish pro Marta Figueras-Dotti, a icon of women’s golf, who highlighted the importance of really loving this sport – the rookies of the LET had the opportunity to receive professional advice from the members of the BMC cycling team, including Thor Hushovd, Michael Schär, Peter Velits, Hushovd Alessandro Ballan, Cadel Evans, and Philippe Gilbert, winners of the last edition of the World Road Cycling Championships.
The members of both groups instantly hit it off, thanks to their shared passion for sports. The young golfers did not think twice about posing for the cameras, thanking the cyclists, who for years have selected La Sella Golf Resort as a training camp to prepare the new season, as both the golf resort’s facilities and the roads of the La Marina Alta offer optimum conditions.
Among the young golfers, the Spanish player María Palacios deserves a special mention: 5th place in the last Spanish Pro Championship, earning Ladies European Tour membership after pre-qualifying at the Tour School in Morocco, entitling her to compete in the majority of the 22 tournaments scheduled in the LET 2015 agenda, starting on the 12 February in Australia and ending on the 12 December in Dubai.
The cyclists, for their part, are also currently in Dubai, to participate in the tour held there from 8-13 of this month.
