Fabio Lomeña, sales manager of Exploramas, unveiled this new activity at EIBTM 2013, emphasizing that it is five times more effective than the traditional kind and saves on travel.

Even with a limited amount of time available and a reduced budget, it is possible to organize a CSR activity with an impact! This was the slogan used by Exploramas to present this indoor reforestation activity, one the latest sustainable experiences designed by the Malaga- and Barcelona-based company for agencies, DMCs and event companies.

This new product was presented by Fabio Lomeña in the Innovation Zone of EIBTM 2013, one the world’s major meeting and event industry shows.

This new corporate event activity is ideal for groups that want to get involved in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative but do not have time to travel to an area earmarked for reforestation.

"With this new experience, we can now offer our clients an innovating, economic activity that does not require transfers or a lot of preparation or time," said Lomeña, when presenting this activity that adapts to both indoor venues and outdoor locations.

The participants in the activity personally prepare "super-seeds," using clay and indigenous seeds, which are than planted in the area to be reforested.

"It’s an alternative cultivation system, coming from Oriental culture, which naturally promotes reforestation," stated Lomeña, when explaining a process "five times more effective than traditional reforestation methods and which safeguards the characteristics of the terrain and eliminates unnecessary tasks like hoeing, the use of composts and fertilizers, the need for herbicides and pesticides, and pruning."

Indoor reforestation is an excellent way of incorporating a CSR initiative in a corporate event, since the activity does not depend on the weather or the time of year, as well as being very economical. "And it’s a good way of breaking the ice, since the participants have to get their hands dirty, completely disconnect from work and interact and socialize with one another around a table."

This CSR experience does not only engage the members of the group taking part in it, but also requires a large dose of commitment from Exploramas. "The super-seeds require quite a time to dry, for which reason we are the ones who, through an agreement with the association Forests of Spain, are responsible for transporting the seeds to natural areas and monitoring progress," concluded Lomeña.
