The European Institute of Design (IED) has been trying out PowerVote’s interactive keypads in its lecture rooms.

These keypads were put to the test last term during the closing session of IED’s master programmes in events, publicity and marketing, allowing the students to evaluate in real time the projects presented by each one of the participants. “A novel procedure was employed in the programmes for assessing projects and putting them to the vote, involving the use of PowerVote’s interactive keypads,” says Javier Perez Pardo, director of the aforementioned master programmes.

The aim of this pioneering experience at IED was to acquaint students and lecturers with the versatility and usefulness of interactive keypads in the academic world. Along these lines, Perez Pardo, whose idea it was to carry out the trial, acknowledged how important “it is for educational centres to search for new possibilities and equipment, as well as different and creative procedures that contibute value added to educational programmes.”

Likewise, according to Armelle Jaclot, the person in charge of developing the educational market at PowerVote, interactive keypads are a very useful continuous learning and training tool in higher education. “The system not only stimulates participation, but also helps to make tests more enjoyable and to keep students attentive. In addition, the learning and evaluation processes are more convenient, simple and immediate. A computer is all that is needed to use PowerVote’s system,” says Jaclot.

In addition to higher education, PowerVote has conducted several pilot projects in primary schools in Fuenlabrada (Madrid) and Torrevieja (Alicante), within the framework of a plan that the company has designed to promote this system’s advantages in the primary and secondary school setting.

PowerVote is a French company with offices in Spain, England, Germany and Brazil, as well as France. The Spanish branch was the first to be opened abroad by PowerVote, and is currently the most important office, after the head office.
