Hotel Occupancy on the Costa del Sol Reaches 65.54% in May

According to figures obtained by AEHCOS (Costa del Sol Hoteliers’ Association), the province of Malaga’s hotels registered an occupancy rate of 65.54% in May, up 3% on the industry’s estimates.

In May, hotels on the Costa del Sol registered a total of 1,512,935 overnight stays, down 67,436 on figures for the same month last year. This fall in overnight stays is accompanied by a drop of 2.3% in the occupancy rate with respect to figures for May 2007. An occupancy rate of 65.84% is forecast for June.

The breakdown of clients staying at hotels on the Costa del Sol during May 2008 by country of origin is as follows: United Kingdom (33.04%), Spain (30.40%), Germany (6.44%), Holland (5.43%), France (5.15%), Belgium (2.97%), Scandinavia (2.95%), USA (2.10%), and Italy (1.60%).
