Granada-based Mediterraneo Sol Institute Announces ELE Teacher Training Courses

The six-week courses (120 classes, divided into four classes per day), have an eminently practical approach, with two modules: theoretical/practical; and supervised practical training in the classroom.

The training courses for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE), given by the Mediterraneo Sol Institute (Imsol) in Granada, are keyed to developing skills and basic knowledge and are eminently practical so as to provide participants with the necessary experience to teach Spanish: programming classes, communicating effectively and managing different kinds of classroom activities, identifying and explaining the most basic linguistic and communicative content in the Spanish language; all with teaching materials, reference works and tutorage.

What it is involved is a general training course for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) that addresses the educational needs of novice teachers and those interested in pursuing a teaching career, in addition to experienced teachers. It is therefore geared to university students in their last year or who have just completed their degree programme in philology or translation and interpreting and are considering teaching Spanish as a career option; to experienced teachers that need a refresher course or to familiarize themselves with new teaching methodologies, approaches and materials; and foreign Spanish teachers (level C1 or C2 is required).

Given at the Mediterraneo Sol Institute (Calle Enriqueta Lozano, 17, 18009 Granada) from 27 February-5 April, from 9 April-18 May and from 21 May-29 June, the courses have been designed for a maximum of eight students per group and cost €850 (those students booking with a friend will obtain a 10% discount). The price includes a Cervantes Institute certificate and course materials in CD-ROM format.

The class schedule for the theoretical module will be from 9-12.30am, with a half-hour break. The schedule for the practical module will depend on the institute’s class times for foreign students.
