From 15-18 February, Girona will host one of Spain's most relevant MICE events: the National Congress of OPC España, which this year will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

As the president of the organizing committee Tomas Gil stated: "It's a unique occasion that has the full support of Girona's main institutions, including the City Council, Convention Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, and Congress Centre-Auditorium, in addition to the Catalonian Tourist Board and Convention Bureau."

In the words of Chon Duran, president of OPC España, one of the most important aspects taken into account when designing the congress' programme "has been to ensure a useful, pragmatic congress that contributes to continuously improving our companies. To this end, the congress' sessions will address current issues affecting our industry, above all how to successfully weather the crisis."

With this leitmotiv, the technical programme will address key issues, putting the accent on the development of practical strategies that can be then implemented by the delegates in their daily work.

Nicolas Le Brun, president of EFAPCO, who will moderate the panel discussion "Winning business by and for PCOs: how to win a conference bid" and Joan Roca, the two-star Michelin chef of El Celler de Can Roca, who will address the issue "Team management and motivation," are just two of the congress' keynote speakers.

Furthermore, it is also important to mention the workshops, conducted and moderated by professionals with a long track record in the MICE industry: Yolanda Barbeito (SEO of Orzan Congres) will address an issue as important today as the application of new technologies in PCOs; Laura Rusiñol of Gerona University and Tommy Gil of BCM Group will unlock some of the key issues when preparing a sponsor programme for a congress, while Alejandro Salgado, SEO of IXIAM, will conduct a workshop dealing with the importance of cutting-edge AV tools for promoting and disseminating congress: webcasting, streaming and image management in social networks.

External communication, negotiating, supplier management and procurement, and the role played by creativity and innovation are among the others issues to be addressed during the 25th Congress of OPC Spain. Furthermore, special attention had been given to the design of the event's social programme, with guided tours of Lloret del Mar, Girona province's leading congress venues and the city's chief monuments.
