This year, MCI Events & Events, an international OPC specialising in the German market, has chosen the city of Malaga and its trade show and congress centre as the Mediterranean’s top business and event destination and venue, respectively.

On 7 March 2008, representatives of Malaga’s Trade Show and Congress Centre and Convention Bureau showcased the city as a congress destination in Dusseldorf before 120 German trade professionals.

In addition to its modern, versatile facilities and original design, the congress centre promoted its quality services in a still untapped market, and presented Malaga as an alternative to the traditional Spanish destinations, with an ample choice of complementary activities.

With a buoyant event industry, centred on technology, industry, lifestyle and consumer goods, Germany is the second most important tourist market for Malaga and the Costa del Sol. Last year, the number of arrivals of German tourists at the city’s international airport was up 4.1% on figures for the year before, to which it is important to add that 67% of German’s visiting Malaga want to return.

The improvement in the city’s services, the completion of the high-speed train link with Madrid and region’s mild Mediterranean climate, among other factors, make Malaga a unique event destination, the city’s excellently equipped trade show and congress centre being complemented by its many attractions.

This promotional activity in Dusseldorf reinforces Malaga’s presence at the recently held International Tourism Bourse (ITB), geared to promoting the city as an event destination in the German market.
