An Event at NASA? We did it!

In December 2011, 70 top managers from all over the world met in Orlando to discuss projects, dream and experiment.

The client of a Spanish company wanted to transmit three inspiring messages during its end-of-year annual convention:
1. Think big, dream of reaching the moon
2. Drive your business
3. And enjoy what you do!

So, after analyzing the three messages that the event had to transmit, the stakeholders came to the conclusion that the ideal destination was… Orlando! This was not a whim, but because it represents the land where dreams come true. The NASA (and Kennedy) dreamt of reaching the moon; Disney of creating the largest entertainment company in the world; and Richard Petty of becoming the most legendary NASCAR driver in history. And best of all: they all achieved their aim! They are dreams come true and totally inspiring.

As a consequence, Abile Corporate Events decided that the best thing to do was to fly out to the source of inspiration and stage the convention there. In December 2011, 70 top managers from all over the world met in Orlando to discuss projects, dream and experiment.

Fly Me to the Moon Meeting – Kennedy Space Center, NASA
The day of the visit to NASA headquarters was the most inspiring of all for the participants: an excellent coaching session by the CEO, a lunch with three real astronauts, who told those present how amazing it was to see the Earth from space, and a tour of the Apolo V exhibition area. In short, if the NASA was capable of sending a rocket to the moon, then we are also capable of launching a product to stardom. As Sinatra used to croon: "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars…"

Richard Petty Drive Experience – Drive your business
At the Walt Disney World Speedway, Abile organized a team-building activity, the Richard Petty Driving experience inspired by "I drive my life, I drive my business". "Drive" in this sense means to "take the lead," making the most of teamwork to bring a project to fruition. With this in mind, the group – divided into different teams – participated in an endurance race, taking turns at the wheel of a go-kart. The aim was to complete the greatest amount of laps in a specific time. Only intense teamwork guaranteed success, and it was also great fun! That same day, a professional NASCAR team was training on the track, and several of the most daring members of the group copiloted the racing cars for an authentic American experience at top speed.

Walt Disney World – Where dreams come true
Last but not least, and in consonance with the third message, all that was left to do was to have a good time. And where better than Disney World? Dream, plan, offer leadership and achieve objectives. An afternoon at Disney World was a great way to get the message across, have fun, and return with fully-charged batteries so as to continue dreaming of reaching the moon.
