On the 14 January 2008, the first stone of the enlargement of Seville’s Congress Centre was laid. After years of delays, the works, with an estimated final cost of 93 million euros, will be completed in two years.
After years of delays, the first stone of the enlargement of Seville’s Congress Centre was laid on 14 January 2008. In the words of the project’s architect Guillermo Vazquez Consuegra, the new V-shaped building will combine an efficient use of space with fluid lines joining it to the existing facilities. With seven floors, including a basement, and a usable area of 34,420m2, there will be an auditorium accommodating 3,500 people, tripling the capacity of the existing facilities, as well as multiuse function rooms for 200 people, a restaurant for 3,000 and an underground car park for 900 vehicles.
With a two-year deadline, the works are expected to be completed during the first trimester of 2010.
