According to the results of a survey conducted this month by eDigitalResearch, 70% of British travellers are not changing their travel plans despite the economic downturn and the rising cost of fuel, while 69% still plan to holiday abroad for a week or more.

The survey in which 2,525 people participated, most of whom aged between 45-65, found that in spite of the troubled economic climate and the spiralling cost of living the British still regard a holiday as essential as a stress reducer. Nevertheless, it is important to add that approximately 63% of respondents had already planned their holiday well in advance. On the other hand, 20% of those consulted admitted to having changed their plans due to a number of reasons, such as less disposable income, the costliness of the Euro Zone countries and rising travel costs.

As to online booking, 75% of respondents acknowledged that they preferred to book their holidays online.
