Avila City Council has just joined the Jewish Quarter Network of Spain Convention Bureaux, marketed under the brand name of "Meetings in Sefarad".
Promoted by Girona, Toledo and the Cordova Tourist Board, the project has the support of the Jewish Quarter Network of which Avila has been a member since 2004.
The cultural attractions of the Jewish Quarter Network of Spain, marketed under the brand name of "Meetings in Sefarad", have recently been showcased in New York and Chicago. The aim of the network, which includes cities such as Cordova, Barcelona and Plasencia, is to boost cultural tourism related the member cities’ Jewish past and present by attracting members of USA’s large Jewish community.
The online programme Rasgo, launched by the network, allows travellers to find restaurants, accommodation, and tourist guides specializing in the Jewish community.
Member cities of the Jewish Quarter Network of Spain include Avila, Barcelona, Besalu (Gerona), Caceres, Calahorra (La Rioja), Cordova, Estella (Navarre), Gerona, Hervás (Caceres), Jaen, Leon, Monforte de Lemos (Lugo), Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Plasencia (Caceres), Ribadavia (Orense), Segovia, Tarazona (Zaragoza), Toledo, Tortosa (Tarragona), and Tudela (Navarre).
