Malaga’s Trade Show and Congress Centre will be hosting the Spanish General Practitioners 15th National and 9th International Congress from 21-24 May 2008. More than 3,000 general practitioners are expected to attend the event.

Organised by the Spanish Society of General Practitioners (SEMG), the congress will feature a series of interactive sessions geared to professionals interested in acquiring or improving skills and knowledge about pathologies such as HTN, diabetes, research and computer science, and clinical echography applied to first aid.

The event, which has been held all over Spain – Salamanca, Valencia, Gijon and Santiago de Compostela – during recent years, will be held for the first time in Malaga. The congress’ international facet is especially important, both at European and Latin American levels, since SEMG collaborates closely with homologous associations in Latin American countries – all of which have been invited to participate – through its foundation SEMG Solidaria.

Keynote speakers specialising in different medical fields will be addressing subjects as diverse as birth control methods, hepatitis, insomnia and arthrosis, centring on advances and their practical uses in general medicine. Continuous learning is one of the SEMG’s core actions, since it has always held that quality continuous education should be made readily available to general practitioners.

About SEMG
With over 8,000 members throughout Spain, the Spanish Society of General Practitioners (SEMG) will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The association has been received several awards, including Turspain’s best scientific congress award, for integrating both the delegates and the city into the event, as well as for programme quality.
