The town of Aracena in Huelva has been chosen to host the 3rd Spanish Tourist Cave Congress, which is due to be held from 4-6 November 2010.
Following the success of the first two editions of the congress, held in Lekunberri (Navarre) and Santander in 2005 and 2008, respectively, the Spanish Association of Tourist Caves (ACTE) has chosen Aracana (Huelva) to host Cuevatur 2010. Scheduled to be held from 4-6 November 2010, under the slogan Caves: heritage, nature, culture and tourism, mangers, researchers and top speleologists will be attending the congress to discuss the present and the future of this tourism segment.
Declared “Tourism Municipality of Andalusia” in 2006, Aracena is the county capital that gives its name to the sierra and the natural park, one of the most important protected areas in the autonomous region. Its rich heritage includes the Gruta de las Maravillas, one of the most interesting karst formations in Spain, which has become the most visited natural tourist attraction on the province of Huelva.
