Last week, Antequera Golf presented the completion of the first phase of the restoration work on the Convento de La Magdalena, which when fully completed will be the only five-star hotel in the area.

After several years of restoration work on this 16th Century building, which previously housed the Franciscan order of San Pedro de Alcantara, and an investment of approximately 10 million euros, 22 rooms, including a 200m2 royal suite, will be operational very shortly. The Convento La Magdalena Hotel will also be equipped with function rooms, such as the venue in the convent’s church, which has been totally restored, including the reconstruction of the dome and choir. In addition, there are plans for a spa, indoor swimming pool, terrace, cellar, teashop, piano bar, à la carte restaurant, and a buffet restaurant.

With regard to outdoor activities, the hotel already has a paddle tennis court and a paintball venue. In the near future, there will also be a five-a-aside football pitch, a football pitch, and the county’s first clay tennis court, as well as other activities such as a Tyrolean crossing and rock climbing. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will be able to choose between hiking, horse riding, cycling and fishing. One of the footpaths available is the Arquillas or Escarihuelas way.

Antequera Golf is planning to invest a further eight million euros in the second phase of the Convento La Magdalena Hotel, comprising 60 additional rooms.
