Aehcos, in collaboration with Turismo Andaluz, has just participated in the international tourist fair JATA 2007, held in Tokyo from 14-16 September 2007.

With an exhibition area of 31,280m2, 772 exhibitors from 134 countries and 107,000 visitors attended the fair.

The most important day for the Costa del Sol was undoubtedly the 14th, when the association presented a new long-stay holiday programme, which will last from October 2007-March 2008, before 100 specialised travel agents in a workshop organised by Tokyo’s OET. Sixteen hotels located on the western stretch of the Costa del Sol are participating in this programme designed by the Japanese tour operator Miki Travel.

The programme envisages stays of between one and three weeks, which will undoubtedly help to overcome seasonality.

The tour operator Miki Travel is very optimistic about the programme and, for the winter season 2008-2008 is even weighing up the possibility of organising a weekly flight for 400 passengers direct to Malaga Airport

Hotel Occupancy on the Costa del Sol Reached 89.20% in August 2007
According to figures obtained by AEHCOS (Costa del Sol Hoteliers’ Association), hotel occupancy in the province of Malaga reached 89.20%, corresponding to 2,133,738 overnight stays.

Figures are up 1% from the same period last year, which is equivalent to an increase of 80,166 overnight stays. An occupancy rate of 75.19% is forecast for September
