Malaga's candidacy has competed with nearly 40 cities, being finally selected as one of the five regional headquarters of the world

The City Council of Malaga, with the collaboration of Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol and the Ministry of Tourism of the Andalusian Government, will be a sub-host of the World Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association ICCA along with five other hubs around the world. The headquarters of the same, in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, will be complemented by various satellite sites in other geographical locations given the exceptionality of this year.

In this sense, for the first time in history, ICCA will hold, in parallel to the World Congress, congresses in five other cities of the world. Specifically, in Europe the host cities will be Luxembourg and Malaga. Malaga's candidacy, presented by the City Council through the Malaga Convention Bureau, Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol and the Andalusian Ministry of Tourism, has stood out among the nearly 40 cities that had submitted their candidacy.

ICCA has positively valued that Malaga is a safe and accessible destination that, in addition, ensures a guarantee of success for its experience in international events. All this is reinforced by the synergy between the Malaga City Council, Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol and the Andalusian Ministry of Tourism, since the city not only has the institutional but also the economic support of the province and Andalusia. A formula of collaboration that guarantees the solidity to carry out an event of great importance and repercussion for the city, as it has been demonstrated previously with other outstanding events of the segment of the industry of meetings and events like the European congresses of MPI and SITE.

The congress, which will take place from 1 to 4 November, will be attended by around 130 ICCA members. This event will have a hybrid program, that is, the morning will be a live streaming broadcast of the Kaohsiung Congress; while in the afternoon there will be an exclusive program for Malaga with sessions led by speakers and world experts, which will give the possibility of virtually attending other ICCA members in other cities or countries.

This event will bring a great projection to the city. Holding an ICCA world congress in parallel with other cities is an important recognition for Malaga and a great opportunity to promote it to the world in a year of paralysis of activity in the MICE segment. Thus, the city is positioned as one of the destinations that has grown more and better in the national and European associative segment in recent years and will project, thanks to this event, a great image of mature, solid and safe destination.
