The demand for flights to the Balearic Islands from Germany has increased to the point of being almost sold out following the German government's announcement to exclude the islands from the risk zone as of Sunday.

According to Onda Cero, Eurowings flights have been full "in no time", so the airline has offered 300 additional flights to visit the Balearic Islands this Easter.

The island with the greatest increase in demand has been Mallorca, while the origin of the bookings has been widespread throughout the country, with the airports of Stuttgart, Bonn, Cologne and Hamburg being the most popular.

Other Spanish regions that the German government has excluded from the risk zone are Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, La Rioja, Murcia and Valencia. This means that German travellers visiting these regions will not have to observe a two-week quarantine on their return to Germany.
