The Andalusian Government will pay 25% of the bill, provided that the reservation is for a minimum of three nights in a hotel.

The Andalusian Regional Government will pay tourists from the region 25% of the turnover of each of up to three trips made within Andalusia and contracted in travel agencies with a minimum reservation of three nights in a hotel between 1 October and 31 May 2021.

This was announced by the Vice-President of the Regional Government and Minister of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, Juan Marín, during a meeting at the Palacio de San Telmo with the Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies.

Marín explained that the Regional Government, through the Regional Ministry of Tourism, will return to Andalusian travellers "25% of the cost of their trip, with a minimum booking of three nights and a maximum of 300 euros for each trip".

He explained that each tourist will be able to benefit from this bonus "up to three times" on trips they make with these characteristics in the aforementioned period of time, until next May.

The Vice-president pointed out that, in order to benefit from this discount, the procedure to be carried out is "very easy", and will be done in the corresponding travel agency, for which he wanted to thank the "collaboration" of the sector, with which the Board has been "working on this and other projects that we hope will also bear fruit in the coming months", according to Marín.

Specifically, he explained that travellers will have to fill in "some small documents at their travel agency which, together with the invoice" for the trip, "will have to be handed in at any town hall, in any public register in Andalusia, and the Territorial Delegation" of Tourism "will pay the 25 percent of the invoice directly".

In this way, if an Andalusian travels for four or five days with his family, and the bill for the trip amounts to 1,200 euros, "he will receive a subsidy, a direct compensation of 300 euros in his current account", as Marín has put it by way of example.

'Andalucía segura'

The vice-president also stated that "it is essential" that both travel agencies and hotels that wish to participate in this project have the "Safe Andalusia" label, promoted by the Regional Government as part of the coronavirus health crisis, in order to benefit from this tourist voucher.

In addition, he encouraged hotels and travel agencies that do not have this device to take the necessary steps to obtain it, "because it is free, it does not cost anything, but it does have to be verified", as the Vice-president reminded the audience that the Regional Government must "guarantee that we send the traveller to a safe destination", with "maximum guarantees of hygiene and health safety for all travellers, and that all established protocols are complied with".

He also clarified that before receiving the subsidy it will be necessary to "check" that the trip has been made, for which an invoice will have to be presented, and the traveller will have to "certify that he is Andalusian".

Marín defended the fact that this tourist voucher "favours travel agencies, hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist leisure, because, in short, what we are doing is mobilising all citizens who want to go on holiday", bearing in mind that "when you go somewhere, you are going to consume".

Budget availability

On the other hand, in response to questions from the journalists, Marín pointed out that the tourist voucher has "a significant budget availability between now and the end of the year", and also for 2021, but, "if it has to be extended, it will be extended, depending on the demand".

Specifically, he indicated that the tourist voucher "has a budget allocation of more than nine million euros between now and 31 December", and "right now the first thing we want to see is the reaction of Andalusians when it comes to using" this resource, which Marín has invited to take advantage of.
