BUSINESS TOURISM IS IN VERY GOOD HEALTH, AS COULD BE SEEN IN THE SECOND EDITION OF IFEMA BUSINESS TOURISM EXPO.

The variants of tourism in Spain go beyond the classic seasonal sun and beach trips. And is that throughout the year, the country concentrates a large number of events focused on business activity. Business tourism is in very good health, as was demonstrated at the last Expo Turismo de Negocios held in Ifema.

This is the second most important fair at European level whose second edition has managed to bring together 27 exhibiting companies, 81 buyers and 110 suppliers of business travel, a figure that shows the optimism and good prospects prevailing in the sector.

The CEO of the Iberian Association of Business Travel Managers (IBTA), Juli Burriel, stressed at a press conference that the "powerful business travel sector moves around 20,000 million euros a year in Spain. A striking figure that, as explained by the director of Business Tourism Expo, "is linked and reflects the state of the country's economy.

SPAIN'S POSITIONING FOR BUSINESS TOURISM

Burriel pointed out that 75% of the volume of business travel corresponds to corporate travel and 5,000 million are located in meeting tourism. "Spain is very well positioned in terms of meeting tourism, with several Spanish cities in the top rankings of the ICCA, but, however, in terms of business tourism we occupy the 13th position, with a growth of 2-3% annually, proportional to GDP," stressed the spokesman.

To climb positions, says Burriel, companies with Spanish capital must continue to grow to attract the interest of foreign companies. All in all, business tourism is in good health, although the figure of the business travel manager is still not well known.

This professional can be very effective in helping companies to reduce their costs in this type of travel. Specifically, up to 20% of the budget, with measures as simple as the advance purchase of airline tickets to workers.

"Every company should have a good travel policy and for this is necessary to have the professional services of a manager specializing in business travel," concluded Burriel.

TECHNOLOGY FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL

Another of the key points that were highlighted in the presentation of this second edition of Expo Turismo de Negocios was the incorporation of new management tools to keep an orderly and practical control of the day to day in the entities. "More and more start-ups dedicated to the management of business trips are arriving", commented Burriel, stressing that it is necessary to adapt to the environment and have the necessary instruments to save time, anticipating the facts so as not to remain in the past.

Therefore, it is expected that mobile technology and artificial intelligence will be the protagonists in an increasingly concentrated market, where margins are progressively narrowing and new players appear, both in technology and consulting.
