FYCMA (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga) will illuminate its blue façade from today, Tuesday 2 April until Sunday 7 to join the demand for World Autism Awareness Day. The enclosure thus joins one of the initiatives promoted by related associative movements to achieve that at least 350 buildings and monuments emblematic of Spain adhere to this global gesture.

The façade of FYCMA (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga) will look blue from sunset to midnight in the next few days - until Sunday April 7 specifically - to join the global initiative of Autism Speaks known as Light It Up Blue. In this way, the enclosure of Malaga claims the World Day of Awareness on Autism, which is commemorated today.

Among the actions undertaken by the related associative movement, in coordination with Autism Europe, a campaign has been launched to promote blue lighting of buildings and monuments throughout Spain as a sign of support for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. The challenge in 2019 is to get at least 350 facilities to adhere to the idea.

It is worth mentioning that the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to contribute to improving the quality of life of people with autism so that they can lead a full and rewarding life as an integral part of society. Last year more than 300 buildings and monuments were added to this beautiful initiative throughout the country.

As it appears on its website, the Spanish Autism Confederation FESPAU is a confederative entity that includes 24 associations or entities of parents of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It was constituted as a federation in its origin in 1994 with the aim of making visible the particularities of autism before society and institutions, defending the rights of people with autism and their families and representing all the entities that compose it throughout the country.
