In collaboration with Malaga Convention Bureau and Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, Gran Hotel Miramar -establishment belonging to the chain Hoteles Santos- has held training sessions for some of the main companies operating in Spain.
A dozen representatives of the Spanish Association of Business Travel Managers (AEGVE), have known the resources and infrastructure of Malaga in the context of a training days on the destination organized in days past by Gran Hotel Miramar -establishment of the chain Hoteles Santos- in collaboration with Malaga Convention Bureau and Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol.
The work programme has enabled these professionals, who belong to the main companies in the Spanish business scene, to discover unique spaces in the capital to host events related to business tourism, congresses, conventions and incentives (MICE); to taste local cuisine; and to get to know the complementary offer of the destination.
AEGVE was founded in 2000 and currently has more than 100 members and collaborators, including a large group of large companies from various sectors operating in Spain. The exchange of good practices, training and networking are some of the axes of this association, which is one of the reference interlocutors within the field of business travel.
Mice Tourism in Malaga
MICE tourism is one of the strategic segments of the sector in Malaga. Through this promotional action, the multisectorial representation of the main industries of the Spanish business panorama that make up AEGVE -am, Mediapro, FCC, Hyundai, Sanitas, Atlantic Cooper, Laboratorios Rovi, Danfoss, Amadeus and PWC- has been able to get to know first hand the possibilities the city offers for business tourism.
According to estimates by the Málaga Convention Bureau, in 2018 the Malacitana capital hosted nearly 300 events of this kind, bringing together more than 100,000 participants.
The Tourism Report of Meetings of the Province of Malaga 2018 of Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, points out that the future of meeting tourism in Malaga has as main emitters to the national market, the United Kingdom and Germany. They are followed by France, Scandinavia, the United States and Canada.
The report also highlights as strategic sector to the medical, pharmaceutical and trade and distribution, followed by automotive and computer technology, cultural, university, logistics and cosmetics sector.
The analysis of the origin of meeting tourists shows that, at national level, Madrid and Catalonia are the main autonomous communities of origin. They are followed by participants from Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia and Valencia.
