The General Assembly of the Seville Convention Bureau, the office for attracting major events, yesterday presented its annual results at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, with a more than remarkable balance. The data show a greater presence and progression of this entity in the market for congresses, meetings and events, as well as the consolidation of administrative management carried out by the Chamber of Commerce, along with the collaborations of the Provincial Council, the City of Seville and the Ministry of Tourism, as reported by the business institution in a statement.

Thus, throughout this year, Seville Convention Bureau reached 141 associated companies, developed ninety actions and served 1,824 professionals, most of them international. During that time managed to capture 265 events that generated 131.5 million euros, 7.5 percent more than in 2017.

These positive figures place the Seville Chamber of Commerce's event attraction office in the top 119 in the world in the ICCA ranking of Congresses, the international organisation that manages the meetings business.

In addition, this year has achieved numerous recognitions such as being included in the list of Event UK, the platform for measuring trends in events that has selected Seville among the 25 best event destinations in the world and first in the section of "Friendliest Destination".

Seville has also been recognised as the best city for meetings and events in Spain by the Iberian Association of Travel Managers and business agencies, as well as the specialist publication Lonely Planet, which has considered Seville the best destination to travel in 2018.

Looking ahead to 2019, the Seville Convention Bureau's horizon is presented with dynamic expectations in the development of its management model, in which activity and private contribution continue to grow and the demand for public collaborations, for the work of promoting the destination that this office carries out in a key and strategic sector for the provincial economy.
