Face-to-face meetings with MICE professionals based in several Spanish cities constitute one of the most important promotional actions carried out by Cadiz Convention Bureau in 2008. The last of these will be held in Malaga on 11 December, in which the Cadiz Tourist Board will be showcasing its MICE services and products to around 30 Costa del Sol event planners. Malaga has been chosen due to number of quality event agencies operating there and because of its proximity to the province of Cadiz. The 12 Cadiz companies attending the meeting will be presenting a number of promotional packages geared to the clients of these Malaga-based agencies.

Making the most of the festive season, Cadiz Convention Bureau will be organizing a typical Cadiz lunch and Jerez zambomba to round off the programme. In the words of the Regional Head of Tourism Irene Canca, who will be presiding the event: “The zambomba is one of the most meaningful artistic and cultural expressions of Yuletide in the province, above all in Jerez, where an important feature is the community spirit, since anyone is free to participate. Each year, lyrics, sounds and rhythms are recuperated, which are then shared by families, friends, neighbourhoods and clubs. Our aim is to promote this unique Christmas tradition outside the province, converting into another tourist attraction.”

The event, which is scheduled to be held at the Duques de Heredia Palace, will begin with a workshop for Malaga-based agencies and Cadiz event professionals, followed by a typical Cadiz lunch, including cabbage, pringa, shrimp omelettes, washed down with dry sherry. The zambomba will take place after lunch, and will include performances by several flamenco groups fro Jerez.

To date, the Valentin Sancti Petri, Barcelo Sancti Petri, Fairplay Golf, Melia Sancti Petri, Bodega Real and Elba Costa Ballena Hotels, in addition to the JALE, Los Jandalos, HACE and Hipotels hotel groups have already confirmed their attendance to this event organized by the Cadiz Tourist Board, with the support of Turismo Andaluz. Jerez Convention Bureau and the agency Andalucia VIP, which has collaborated in the event’s organization, will also be attending.

Besides this workshop, the Cadiz Tourist Board’s convention bureau has organized three other face-to-face meetings in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao during the year.
