TUI Receives Spanish Civil Merit Award for Promoting Spain in Germany

On Monday 18 August 2008, the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, awarded Michael Frenzel, managing director of TUI, the Medal of Civil Merit in recognition of the tour operator’s contribution in making Spain the leading destination for German tourists.

In 2007, 10 million German tourists visited Spain, representing 17% of all inbound tourists; figures for the first half of 2008 being in the region of 4.7 million.
