With the technical advise of Tim Appleton of The British Birdwatching Fair and in collaboration with Tarifa Town Council, the Spanish Birdwatching Society, the regional government’s environmental department, and the Alcornocales Rural Development Group, the Migres Foundation and Plegadis Consultores are jointly organising the 1st International Birdwatching Fair of Tarifa, scheduled to be held on Los Lances Beach from 18-21 September 2008.

For some time now, Plegadis Consultores has been promoting birdwatching in Spain as an activity that not only helps to protect birds but also to support rural communities. With this aim in mind, the company has worked on porjects in many autonomous communities, as well as in France, Morocco and South America. Likewise, Plegadis Consultores has attended The British Birdwatching Fair (Rutland) for many years and even collaborated recently with the organisers of the event, which is the most important of its kind in Europe.

With the technical advice of Tim Appleton, The British Birdwatching Fair’s founder and director, and his associate Martin Davis, Plegadis Consultores and the Migres Foundation are currently organising the 1st International Birdwatching Fair of Tarifa, due to be held on Los Lances Beach from 18-21 September 2008, with the intention of converting it into an annual fixture and yardstick for the birdwatching industry.

Each year, the Migres Foundation will earmark all proceeds to a project geared to conserving endangered species or habitats, within the framework of its broad conservation programme. This year, the project will be aimed at protecting the Aquatic Warbler in its Moroccan habitat.
