Cirque du Soleil returns to PortAventura World with Varekai

PortAventura World is the only European resort to host the performances of Cirque du Soleil.

Today, 6 July, the emblematic big top of the Canadian circus company will open its doors at PortAventura World for the whole of July and August. There will be two daily performances at 6 and 9.30pm, thus making PortAventura World the only European resort to offer the performaces of Cirque du Soleil.

‘Varekai’ tells the story of a solitary young man who falls from the sky to land in the shadows of a magic forest, a kaleidoscopic world full of fantastic creatures, where he sets out on an extraordinary adventure. ‘Varekai’, which means ‘in any place’, pays tribute to the nomad spirit, the soul and the art of the circus tradition, as well as to the boundless passion of those who follow the path that leads to this special place.

In ‘Varekai’, the imposible becomes possible thanks to the amazing demonstrations of skill accompanied by innovative music and high-spirited choreographies performed in supernatural settings. The show includes over 50 international performers and musicians.

The successful collaboration between both companies began with ‘Kooza’ in 2014, followed by ‘Amaluna’ in 2015. The agreement envisages the establishment of a base at PortAventura World during the summer months until 2020.

With this show, PortAventura hopes to sell over 110,000 tickets, which can be purchased on the website of PortAventura World.
