De Boer has already begun construction work on the temporary venue for the Farnborough International Air Show 2008, the company’s most important project to date. Since this year’s edition of the fair will be marking its 60 anniversary, the organisers are expecting to break the show’s record of 270,000 visitors registered in 2006.

For this year’s edition, to be held from 14-20 July, De Boer will construct four huge exhibition halls, the largest measuring 19,000sqm, in addition to the special “Centennial Pavilion”.

For this biennal event, the company will also construct more than a kilometre of hospitality chalets, together with other temporary structures, including a press centre, business suites, marketing facilities, etc.

Among other new features for this edition, Boeing and Bombardier have commissioned De Boer to provide a couple of its glass-sided Panorama structures, while the company will also erect an impressive new double-decker venue for the Italian industrial group Finmeccanica.

In addition, De Boer has designed and built a totally new 160x10m Alu Hall for housing one of the main exhibition areas. The structure has 4m supports so as to facilitate access to other exhibition areas.

Over the next few weeks, 200 articulated lorries will be used to transport all the necessary materials to the airdrome, construction works being completed by the end of June. In this way, the approximately 6,000 suppliers whose services have been engaged to fit out the temporary structures will have enough time to do so before the opening of the show.

De Boer has been a supplier of the Farnborough International Air Show for many years and has already been commissioned to construct the temporary venue for the 2010 and 2012 editions of the show.
