The Melia Sevilla Hotel will accommodate all the delegates and senior representatives of international basketball.
Melia Hotels International’s properties in Bilbao, Seville and Madrid will be playing an important role in the 17th edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, scheduled to be held in Spain from 30 August-14 September.
From 30 August-4 September, the Melia Bilbao will host five countries (Turkey, Finland, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, and Ukraine), together with the organizing committee members and representatives of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB). Bilbao’s Bizkaia Arena BEC has been chosen as the venue for 15 group phase games. Likewise, on occasion of the 20th FIBA World Congress, scheduled to be held at the Seville Congress Centre, the Melia Sevilla and its recently refurbished convention centre will accommodate delegates from all over the world from 26-29 August. Lastly, the Melia Castilla (Madrid) will be the official venue of the Spanish Basketball Federation from 6-14 September. In addition, the hotel was used in July for the federation’s organizational meetings.
The 2014 Basketball World Cup has been organized by FIBA, the Spanish Basketball Federation and the tournament’s organizing committee. This will be the second time that Spain hosts the Basketball World Cup (the first taking place in 1986).
