Utiel-Requena and Ribeiro Wine Routes Certified as Wine Routes of Spain

03/01/2009 - El Cata Vinos

Two wine routes forming a part of the Wine Routes of Spain have just received full certification after being subject to mandatory quality control audits. Out of the 19 routes comprising the Wine Routes of Spain project, 13 have received full certification. During the recent audit, the Wine and Brandy Route of Jerez has renewed certification.

The Utiel-Requena and Ribeiro Wine Routes now form a part of the Wine Routes of Spain with the ACEVIN certificate, promoted by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities, the State Department of Tourism, and the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs. Both located in areas with a long viticultural tradition, Utiel-Requena, in the Valencian Community, and O Ribeiro, to the east of the province of Orense, also posses a rich gastronomic, historical and artistic heritage.

Thirteen of the 19 Wine Routes of Spain now have a full certificate: the Wine Routes of Bullas (Murcia), Jumilla (Murcia), La Mancha, Montilla-Moriles, Navarra, Rías Baixas, Rioja Alavesa, Somontano (Aragón), and Tacoronte-Acentejo (Canarias), the Wine and Brandy Route of Jerez and the Wine and Cava Route of Penedes (Cataluña), and the recently certified Wine Routes of Ribeiro (Galicia) and Utiel-Requena (Valencian Community). The other six – those of Ribera de Duero, Rioja, Condado de Huelva, Ycoden-Daute-Isora (Canarias), Alicante, and Ribera del Guadiana (Extremadura) – are still in the process of being certified.
