Font size A-A+The Selenza Estepona Hotel (Malaga) and its thalassotherapy centre have recently organised a course of Watsu-Basic and Watsu-1 classes in collaboration with Watsu-Europe (European Network of Practitioners and Instructors of Aquatic Bodywork) and AIWaBa (Italian Association of Watsu and Aquatic Bodywork).
Giovanni Baccarani, one of Watsu-Europe’s authorised instructors, was chosen to give 16 therapists from all over Spain theoretical and practical classes, with the aim of training them in this new therapeutic technique. Likewise, the Selenza Hotel has signed an agreement to become a permanent Watsu training centre until the end of 2009.
Watsu (aquatic Shiatsu) is a technique consisting of applying manual pressure to acupuncture points and meridians, but under water. In this way, the effects of this ancient technique are combined with the therapeutic effect of hot seawater. In addition, the freedom of movement offered patients allows them to achieve a state of deep relaxation, helping to decompress vertebrae, mobilise joints, and stretch muscles, as well as having a positive effect on other physical alterations, thus helping body and mind to recover.
This initiative is in line with the Thalassotherapy & Spa Centres policy to continuously train its therapists so as to able to offer its clients the very best in Western and Oriental techniques.
