Strategically located on the banks of the River Fardes, in the vicinity of Sierra Nevada National Park – with direct access to the A-92 in km 286 – the complex borders on the archaeological area of La Cuesta del Negro and the outstanding Purullena Badlands, both specially protected areas.
Almagruz is located at the entrance to the Guadix Hollow, only 48km from Granada, where the province’s northeastern sector of bioclimatic architecture is to be found, one of the most representative troglodyte areas of its kind in the Peninsula. The settlements are scattered over the eastern sector, corresponding to the furrow between the Betica mountain range, where the counties Guadix, Baza and Huescar are located.
